CORMORANT HOUSE
Audubon, MN
Situated on a small, quiet bay on a much larger, much busier lake, the 6 acre site is surrounded by public forests that offer a buffer from the normally frenetic pace of lake life in the region.
The 2 new buildings that form this project replace a single modular home. The client wished to salvage or sell as much of the existing building as possible and was able to remove the existing house without demolition work and associated waste. The original remaining foundation dictated the size of the main building.
In a further effort to reduce construction waste, factory-machined insulated wall panels were selected in place of conventional wood framed walls.
The smaller building houses an endless pool and lounge.
